The irbis is the snow leopard — a cat of the high mountains of Central Asia, a solitary hunter that works at dusk and at night and is all but invisible against rock and snow. Three of its traits describe precisely what the equipment has to do on a range.

A smoke-grey coat with black rosettes hides the irbis against rock. It closes in silently, to very short range, and only then makes its jump.
The target waits folded down. The AX handles present the figure in four ways: raising it, turning it through 90°, leaning it out from behind an obstacle or swinging it. The firing point looks empty until the moment it stops looking empty.
The irbis is an animal of dusk and night. It hunts when the rest of the mountain stops seeing.
IRBIS Light switches the target illumination on by itself after dusk: continuous for night training, intermittent to simulate incoming fire. The catalogue carries thermal targets and a mast with warning lights for night shooting next to it. Dusk does not end the training day.
It lives where there is nothing: on rocky slopes above three thousand metres. Broad paws carry it over snow like snowshoes.
The sets are autonomous — battery power, 433 MHz radio control, a mobile base for the device. The range needs no cabling and no rebuilding; the equipment travels to where it has to stand.
The name sounds the same in most languages — which is why one brand works on the Polish and the export market without translation.
Wireless control is shared across the family. An instructor who knows one set will operate the next one without retraining.
